Feeding 1000
So, my desire to feed people has come to a good place. I am currently working in a school cafeteria and help prepare food to feed so many children. I always did want a lot of people around my table. Didn't know it would be so many!

Collard Greens
1 Tbl Curry Spice Mixture
Large Bunch Collard Greens
Clarified Butter
1 Onion
Stem and chop collard greens and steam or boil until soft. Drain greens. Chop up the onion and cook in clarified butter until soft. Add curry spice mixture to onion and cook until fragrant. Add drained collard greens to onion and spices and warm together. Serve with Naan.
This is a very delicious ways to eat greens. We have enjoyed them very much this way and typically serve red lentils as the other dish for our meal.

Leftovers
Been using up the leftovers this week.
It is like the truth of the abundance of God! He always gives what we need and then some more!
We had some friends who called it an upgrade...

Revelation 7:16-17
Common English Bible (CEB)
16 They won’t hunger or thirst anymore. No sun or scorching heat will beat down on them, 17 because the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will shepherd them. He will lead them to the springs of life-giving water,[a]and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
Revelation 22:1-3
Common English Bible (CEB)
22 Then the angel showed me the river of life-giving water,[a] shining like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb 2 through the middle of the city’s main street. On each side of the river is the tree of life, which produces twelve crops of fruit, bearing its fruit each month. The tree’s leaves are for the healing of the nations. 3 There will no longer be any curse. The throne of God and the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.
Revelation 22:16-17
Common English Bible (CEB)
16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to bear witness to all of you about these things for the churches. I’m the root and descendant of David, the bright morning star. 17 The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who is thirsty come! Let the one who wishes receive life-giving water[a] as a gift.”
John 4:9-11
Common English Bible (CEB)
9 The Samaritan woman asked, “Why do you, a Jewish man, ask for something to drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (Jews and Samaritans didn’t associate with each other.)
10 Jesus responded, “If you recognized God’s gift and who is saying to you, ‘Give me some water to drink,’ you would be asking him and he would give you living water.”
11 The woman said to him, “Sir, you don’t have a bucket and the well is deep. Where would you get this living water?
when i think of water I think about how it overflows onto everything unless it is contained in some way. Like a river overflowing its banks during a flood time, you can not stop it!
if it is actual water or this is just the picture he uses so we can understand the gift that He is offering us, I really don't know. But I love the thought of living water! Not murky, stagnate water, but living water! Water that flows from the throne of God! See what I mean? a God of abundance! Water that flows doesn't need to be rationed, it isn't in a desert region, but it just keeps coming and coming and never runs out!
And not only that, but HE offers it as a free gift! He just gives it to us...we don't have to earn it!
The water will grow the trees that produce the leaves for the nation's healing and he will wipe every tear from our eyes. He is a God who sees the big picture and the smallest of detail of the individual.
How many people have shed a tear unnoticed? Probably every person ever born has shed a silent tear and no one else knew. But this word says EVERY tear, that means those we shed when we thought we were alone in the middle of the night or in the middle of our grief. He knows and sees it all.
Our nations will be healed, our tears will be wiped away. Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.

Lamb Chili
Lamb chili
lamb shanks
tomatoes
sweet peppers
Jalapenos
banana peppers
onion
garlic
cumin
chili powder
coriander
smoked paprika
salt and pepper
boil bones for lamb broth, cut up all lamb and vegetables into diced pieces, put in crock pot on high, put everything in the crock pot except boiled bones. Boil bones and other scraps from the shank to create a nice broth, drain bones and everything else, I used cheese cloth, and then add the broth to the crock pot.
This was pretty strong on the pepper flavor. It would be better to cook the peppers prior to putting in the crock pot. Served it with homemade croutons from left over baguette and sweet potato chips. Since I didn't have beans and I used the stock from the lamb bones, it really had the consistency of soup rather than chili.

Calming a storm
23 When Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him. 24 A huge storm arose on the lake so that waves were sloshing over the boat. But Jesus was asleep. 25 They came and woke him, saying, “Lord, rescue us! We’re going to drown!”
26 He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you people of weak faith?” Then he got up and gave orders to the winds and the lake, and there was a great calm.
27 The people were amazed and said, “What kind of person is this? Even the winds and the lake obey him!”
I have some questions about this passage. I don't understand why Jesus said they had little faith. I guess, I am not sure what he expected them to do in this situation that would have been a showing of faith. We have storms in our life that come up, and we truly are in danger? How are we to respond to these situations?

Lamb Shanks
Lamb Shanks
2 lamb shanks
oven at 350
large roasting pan
salt and pepper
I am going to cook some lamb in the oven pretty straight forward. I usually use rosemary, but the store was out. Corn on the cob tonight too with the lamb.
So this dish took an interesting turn today, my cooking usually does
rib celery
egg plant
onion
sherry cooking wine
soy sauce
sriracha sauce
salt and pepper
shanks
cumin
smoked paprika
olive oil
chopped up celery , onion and egg plant into large chunks and placed under the lamb
seasoned with sherry, soy sauce, cumin sriracha and smoked paprika (drizzled with EVOO)
cooked on 350 for 45 mins and then took out vegetables and stirred around then turned up to 425 for the last 15 minutes. The meat wasn't cooked quite enough, it was med on the outer parts but rare in the middle, think chicken leg when it isn't cooked long enough, the meat was flavorful, but the star to me was the vegetables, these were really tasty. I think adding the vegetables to the pan really is going to up the cooking time for the meat. Another note, the shank is full of connective tissue, which we did not know as this was our first time cooking this particular cut of lamb.
Since the meat was undercooked for our liking, I am going to try and make some lamb chili with the garden tomatoes from my family, onion and the peppers we have. Round two might be enjoyed even more!
this passage speaks to me as lately I have been having some underlying stress that I can not identify, I only know because I am grinding my teeth at night. verse 6 speaks of not being anxious about anything, rather bring your requests to God in your prayers and petition along with giving thanks. I am so grateful that we can come to HIM with everything that lies before us and the daily challenges of living

Philippians 4
Common English Bible (CEB)
Stand firm in the Lord
4 Therefore, my brothers and sisters whom I love and miss, who are my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord.
Loved ones, 2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to come to an agreement in the Lord. 3 Yes, and I’m also asking you, loyal friend, to help these women who have struggled together with me in the ministry of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my coworkers whose names are in the scroll of life.
4 Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! 5 Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near. 6 Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. 7 Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.
8 From now on, brothers and sisters, if anything is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your thoughts on these things: all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise. 9 Practice these things: whatever you learned, received, heard, or saw in us. The God of peace will be with you.

BBQ Ribs and corn on the cob
Had a dish this past weekend. BBQ ribs. The ribs were cooked in soy sauce, and water and that was drained. After that they were put in a slow oven for about an hour with BBQ sauce. They were quite tender and delicious.
Also, I learned how to cook corn-on-the-cob. You bring the water to a rolling boil, add corn, return to a boil and then turn off the heat, cover the corn and it is ready to serve with dinner. So simple. I have never know how to do this so this was a great cooking lesson for me.
Just starting to reach out through face book with the prayer ministry. The page is called Willow Hills Prayer Ministry. the LORD reminded me that we are not to speak anything that HE has not said. To not fall into the temptation to make it something that we want, but to wholly embrace this ministry of the Holy Spirit and ONLY allow what He wants to communicate, not clever human wisdom or ideas. This sounds easy, but it really isn't. Jesus said "Whatever I speak, just as the Father has told me I speak" he never relied on his human ideas or feelings when it came to speaking according to this statement. This is the admonition for us as well. We are going to be spending much time in prayer...we need to be careful.
On another note, I was thinking of organizing a prayer retreat. Not sure if that was my idea or? so another thing to pray about.

Pizza with Whole Wheat Crust
Pizza dough
Today I am going to try a simple pizza dough for some homemade pizza
Whole wheat flour
all purpose flour
cornmeal
olive oil
yeast
sugar
warm water
topping will be cheddar cheese, pepperoni, olives (and left over hot dog) green peppers from the garden.
Will also be making some homemade soft serve ice cream, vanilla base with strawberry swirl.
half and half
heavy cream
vanilla bean
superfine sugar (i have found putting regular sugar in a food processor makes it fine enough)
and homemade strawberry jam
Sounds like a real Friday night party!
Read David's prayer today after the LORD told him that he was going to bless his house and make it an everlasting throne (Jesus).
There were a couple of things that really stuck out to me in this discourse. First of all GOD choose to move around with the children of Israel in a tent (a picture of how Christ would have his ministry) I am thinking. and that God never did ask his servants to build him a house for the ark. Here is another place that makes me wonder about the building projects that we take on "for the Lord". I know it is radical thinking...but I really want to see the heart of God in this manner.
Also, David was so gracious in his prayer in saying, is this how you normally treat people?? He sounds blown away to me, what a humble man. David was always thinking about the LORD. I want to be like that.
